Aloha!
A few days after I returned from Greece, I set off for a relaxing and fun week in Honolulu, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. More to come soon!

Lists
I’m surprised I haven’t made any lists yet on this blog! Here are some of my observations from when I got home after nearly a month in Europe. I’m way behind on my blog but still wanted to share things I’ve been keeping mental (and written) notes about since then. Things I Love About Being Home My wonderful family Our shower that passes the 10-point inspection Alyssa and...

Catching up
I had a relaxing few days at home after Greece before leaving for my next adventure (more about that soon!), but I somehow managed to get pretty behind on blogging. I still need to upload pictures from Athens, but the Internet is kind of slow so words will have to do for now! Our last day in Athens was fun and relaxing. My roommate and I repacked in the morning so she could get ready for her...

Ending in Athens
Since Olympia, we spent a night in Delphi and then made it to Athens, our final destination of the trip. The morning after my last post, we went to a Museum of the Olympic Games that was right around the corner from our hotel in Olympia. It was neat to see medals, uniforms, tickets, and newspaper articles from most of the modern Olympic games. They also had stories from the ancient games and...

I love Greece!!
I’ve finally posted pictures of some of the highlights I’ve already written about as well as new things from Greece. I don’t have much time now, but since I last wrote we saw ancient sites and relaxed on the island of Crete before taking an overnight ferry (sadly, not a cruise this time) to the mainland. Yesterday we saw the amazing sites of Mycenae, from around 1200 BC, and...

That’s the number of pictures I have taken on the trip so far. I really want to post some of them (only like 4 or 5, not hundreds, don’t worry) but it’s not working on this computer in the Internet cafe. But I will try when I can to provide visuals for my last few posts! Now I’m off to enjoy Crete .. and probably take a nap during the rest of our free afternoon.

Surprise!!
We spent two nights on the island of Rhodes, visiting a few sites and enjoying the cute shops and pleasant environment of the city around our hotel. From there, we were supposed to take an overnight ferry to the island of Crete. As our bus pulled up to the dock, we saw really big ships and found out that one of them was ours. We were still expecting a ferry, so we just figured the ship could hold...

Can't stop, won't stop
After Kusadasi, we spent a few days in the resort city of Bodrum before having to say goodbye to Turkey and head to Greece. Bodrum was nice but very touristy .. Our hotel was huge and felt more like we were on a cruise, as there were a ton of Europeans on holiday (mostly from the UK), large buffets, an awesome pool overlooking the Aegean Sea (in which I swam!), and even a show and a disco. We...

It's only money ..
It’s been a while since I last wrote (I had to check what my last post was!) so I have tons to catch up on. I have an hour of Internet left in this cafe so we’ll see how much I get done. We had a blast during our full day in Kusadasi, which was around June 12 I think. First, we went to a leather factory, which I was expecting to be informative and not the most exciting thing. Boy,...

Life in the country
We left Istanbul on Tuesday to spend about a week in the Turkish countryside. I slept for most of the bus ride, but I did catch glimpses of cows, horses, and goats among the rolling hills during our trip. While I missed certain aspects of the big city at first, staying near the beach has its advantages as well. First, we travelled to Canakkale, visiting memorials for the Battle of Gallipoli...

Travel, travel, travel .. →
andfried: “As you journey through life, chose your destinations well but do not hurry there. You will arrive soon enough. Wander the back roads and forgotten paths, keeping your destination in your heart like the fixed point of a compass. Seek out the new voices, strange sights, and ideas foreign to your own. Such things are riches for the soul. And, if upon arrival, you find that your...

Istanbul!
After an exhausting day or so of traveling, we finally made it to Istanbul, Turkey! The flights went well, but between the time differences, not getting much sleep because of packing, and only taking short naps at a time on the planes, I’m ready for a good night’s sleep. The city is huge, and we are staying right near the center of it. There is a great bustling energy (especially on a...
